Tips For Easily Maintaining Your Air Compressor

If you would like to make sure that your air compressor will stay in good shape for as long as possible, you will want to review the following tips for maintaining it.

Clean the Moisture out of the Tanks

Moisture tends to collect inside of the tanks while you use the air compressor. It is important to make sure that you are taking a few moments to clean out the tanks after each use instead of allowing that moisture to just sit in there. To do this, you simply need to gain access to the inside of the tanks and wipe them clean with a clean rag. If you do not do this and instead allow the moisture to just sit in the tank, this could lead to the development of rust on some vital parts of the air compressor.

Keep the Air Filters Clean

It is important to make sure that the air filters within your compressor are kept as clean as possible. They can get dirty rather fast because they are trapping the dirt that is being brought into the compressor. If you leave the dirt in the filters, they will eventually start to clog, and this will make the air compressor have to work much harder to do its job. To clean the dirt out of the filter, simply remove it from the air compressor after each use and gently tap it against your hand or the side of a doorway to knock the excess dirt out of the filter. You will also want to make sure that you are replacing the filter with a new one when it becomes so dirty that you can barely get it clean anymore.

Maintain the Oil Level

You will need to make sure that you are keeping an eye on the oil level in your air compressor and adding more when more is needed. There should be a line in the oil reserve that shows you where the tank needs to be filled up to. You can also find instructions in the manual that came with your air compressor. Just like with a vehicle, the oil will need to eventually changed out in order to keep the machine running as smoothly as possible. Your owners manual should instruct you as to how many hours of use is suggested as the maximum before the oil is replaced.

With those tips, you should now have a much easier time maintaining your air compressor. For more information about air compressors, talk to a company such as Kruman Equipment Company
